A Saga of a Forest: A film on Western Ghats by Ecological Society
The Ecological Society is an NGO in Pune, India, working in the field of ecology and environment.
In 2014, the Society completed a project in the Western Ghats of India (a biodiversity hotspot), funded by Global Forest Watch. The project involved ecological and socio-economic assessment of the Panshet dam catchment region, as well as ground truthing of satellite data from Global Forest Watch to assess the health of the forest ecosystem. Additionally, biodiversity assessment of the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary was also completed.
This film summarizes our assessment and alerts about the threats to local ecology and biodiversity.
